Brief overview of The Applications for Flutec Fluids

Tracing & Tagging
Flutec® Tracers have a unique set of properties which make them ideal candidates for tracing and tagging applications. As well as being non-toxic, non-corrosive, non-flammable, non-radioactive and non-combustible up to 450oC, they are chemically and thermally stable; the background atmospheric concentrations of Flutec® Tracers are negligible and they can be detected at parts per quadrillion levels. There are twelve Flutec® Tracers in the range, with boiling points between 45oC and 155oC which allow multi-tracer experiments to be performed. Flutec® Tracers can be deployed, sampled and analysed with the same instrumentation simultaneously.

Cosmetics / Personal Care
The Flutec® PC fluids are a range of high purity perfluorocarbons. They are lipophobic and hydrophobic, forming a third phase, facilitating emulsion formulation. They have a high gas dissolving ability, excellent toxicological profile and a variety of other properties which make them a superb additive to cosmetic formulations. Flutec® PC6 (INCI Name - Perfluorodecalin) is the material of choice for many applications, though it is but one of a range of compounds available.

Suggested applications:

  • Face and neck creams and gels
  • Eye Contour creams and gels
  • Oxygen Mask
  • Oxygen Lipstick
  • Two Way Cakes
  • Scalp Treatment

Medical
Due to their remarkably low toxicity and their ability to dissolve gases, especially oxygen and carbon dioxide, Perfluorocarbon fluids have generated a lot of interest for medical applications such as:

  • Medical Diagnostics
  • Ophthalmology
  • Blood Substitutes
  • Wound Healing
  • Drug Delivery Systems
  • Liquid Ventilation
  • Organ & Tissue Preservation

Key properties : High Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide dissolving capability, excellent toxicological profile.

Our range includes:

  • Octafluoropropane
  • Perfluorobutane
  • Perfluorohexane
  • Perfluorooctane
  • Perfluorodecalin
  • Perfluoromethyldecalin
  • Perfluoroperhydrophenanthrene

We are constantly striving to improve our product range for medical applications, should you require a specific compound that is not listed please do not hesitate to contact us.

Conformance to cGMP can also be accommodated

Refrigeration
Octafluoropropane also known as Perfluoropropane, Flutec® PP30 and R218 has application in refrigerant blends as a CFC replacement. It is a fully-fluorinated, odourless, colourless gas.
